When students at the Mortingham Boarding Academy find strange silver beetles in the woods, they are excited about the discovery. They take pictures to share with the science teachers and hope to find out it’s a new species. But when a similarly silver dog attacks a teacher on campus, it dawns on the students that there is a significant problem at hand – especially after the teacher starts to take on a silver appearance as well. Suddenly, the students are no longer worried about exams and petty fights; they are worried about surviving the weekend.
Why It's Worth Reading:
Probably the request I hear the most often is from students who want action/adventure books. Here you go! There is no shortage of high stakes or action sequences here. In fact, Chris Wooding also writes for TV and film, so he's used to designing the kind of action that people want to watch on screen, and you can find it in this novel as well. If you love zombie stories like Z (Ford) or watch The Walkind Dead, this book has an exciting new twist to take your zombie obsession to a new level. Definitely pick up a copy before winter break!
