Quincy & Biddy have just graduated from the special education program at their high school. They have very different attitudes about life and the world, but they are placed together as roommates in the guest house of an older woman in town. Though they seemingly have nothing in common, a few intense experiences allow them to realize that they share more characteristics than they had assumed.
Why It's Worth Reading:
Stories about friendship, especially friendships that overcome odds and see people through hard times, never go out of style. Nearly any reader can understand the power of a good friendship. Girls Like Us is also incredible because it offers a peek into the lives of two girls with disabilities, offering readers the opportunity to both understand new perspectives and yet also relate to girls who may be different from them.
