Cassie has amazing observational skills. She can size a person up in mere seconds just by observing their behavior. She learned this skill from her mother, a dazzling con artist who used her close observations to pretend she was psychic. Since her mother's death, Cassie lives a quiet life, observing people casually for her own amusement. When a strange boy visits her at work and seems to know all about her, Cassie is startled, especially after he notices where he works - the FBI. He is one of The Naturals, a small group of teenagers with special skills like reading emotions or profiling behavior. And now The Naturals want Cassie.
Why It's Worth Reading:
This book was suspenceful, a definite thriller. Any story involving hunting and catching serial killers would be, right? The Naturals use the skills that they are born with, but the FBI teaches them to hone them even more. Cassie's training as a profiler is intriguing and creepy - they want her to get into the head of bad guys and figure out what kind of people they are. I didn't immediately know who the killer was, which I appreciated a lot. It's not fun reading a story when you predict the ending in the 3rd chapter. There's also a touch of romance as Cassie seems torn between the two boys in the group - Michael and Dean. It was a quick, gripping page-turner with potential for a sequel. There's nothing wrong with that!
